HOW TO COPE WITH SNOW/ICEOur significant snow storm of the season arrived yesterday. Here are a few tips to cope withsubsequent snow/ice events. The City of Albany 1)should plowmain roads, like New Scotland Avewith plows lined up in tandem.Sweep the outbound lanes clearall at once, the same for the in-bound lanes.Instead of the procedure the Cityuses now:a) let snow pile upb) clear the center lanesc) continue to let snow pileup in curb lanesd) send plows tearing alonga 40-50 mph causing aheavy sludge tsunamiwhich inundates driveentrances, sidewalksand corners. The elderlyare put at health riskif they try to shovel theheavy sludge, or, areforced to shell out cashto have driveways/sidewalkscleared. This on top ofpaying high property taxeswhich do not decreasewith los market values. The City wants to returnto the 100, 000 populationmark, to qualify for governmentaid and increase the property taxbase, theirby increasing revenuesand balancing the city budget?Well.... don't kill off geezersand drive homeowners out ofthe city with out of controlcity and school property taxesfailing to crack down on crimeand tolerating bad behaviorin city schools.2.
