No E Z Pass for drivergate. The tree berm bordering Buckingham Mew extension and back lots
of Buckingham Drive houses looks good. But, it is not complete. It needs to be planted behind two more homes all the way to Milner Ct.
Downtown residents appeared before Common Council Monday, November 19. Some were victims of street beatings by violent teens. Numerous pleas for Council to do something to halt street violence. Calls for more teen centers were made.
Some were critical of city spending more on golf course than teen centers. Capitol Hills Golf Course is an income producing venture teen centers are not. Gangs of golfers are not attacking and beating citizens on city streets. Violent, hostile teens are.
Solution to teen mobs attacks on city streets is to be found in a curfew and swift retaliation by law enforcement. Ultimate responsibility for this problem is to be found in the dysfunctional homes of offenders, where no fathers are present, where single moms abuse their male offsprings, turning them into violent, hostile street thugs.
The social services system, and SSI "crazy money" supports and rewards this growing underclass. Take away these rewards and social responsibility will emerge.
People that can not afford to raise children, will not have them. Teen age girls will not get pregnant because doing so will not be rewarded with their own apartment and assorted social services benefits, free college tuition and more.
The word must go out clearly to mommas - don't abuse your boys and don't let your girls grow up to be hoes.
In sum, the solutions to the above problems are not to be found by spending more money on teen centers, schools and social services.
The solutions are to be found in the home and in personal responsibility for one's actions.
