Buckingham Pond Park traverse. October 12, 2006. A fine Fall afternoon. The woods path, between Lenox and Holmesdale, needs work. Vines are strangling a number of trees. The vines need to be cut and eventually removed. Some yard waste dumping is still occurring along Raft's Way. Several Sugar Maples are in full Autumn color. The Milner Ave foot bridge railings and path are in need of repair. Stakes mark the locations for improved lighting to be installed, sometime in the future? The pond water has cleared up with the coming of cooler weather. Two flocks of ducks appear to be in residence on the North Shore of the pond. The guard rail on Berkshire at the foot of Euclid contains grafitti and continues to be hit by vehicles coming down the hill from Euclid. The pathways contain a number of slippery spots where wet clay creates a hazard for pedestrians. This situation will only get worse with the coming of wet snow and freezing conditions. The remedy is to resurface the paths with gravel before winter sets in, and before pedestrians suffer falls and broken bones.
