ALBANY CITY BZA
ACTION 2/11/15
The application of Family
Promise of The Capital Region
re: serving the needs of homeless
families at Bethany Reformed
Church 736-760 New Scotland
Ave was tabled at last nights
meeting.
We thank the BZA for this
wise action.
We urge Family Promise
to withdraw the application.
Conduct your program elsewhere.
There are no homeless families
in this neighborhood.
Our Neighborhood Association
is dedicated to protecting the
residential integrity and life
quality in our neighborhood
and we have done so for the
last several decades.
It makes no sense to take
any action that will decrease
home values in this ,and adjacent
neighborhoods, because of the
adverse impacts on the city
property tax base which would
in turn, adversely impact support
of city schools and city government
services.
We oppose HUD efforts to preempt
local zoning and socially engineer
the socioeconomic/political character
of this or any other neighborhood.
We urge residents of this
neighborhood to pay close
attention to City efforts to
reassess our properties and to
rezone this neighborhood and
the city.
Why and to what end have these
moves been set in motion?
Zoning and public schools are
matters of local decision making
by local residents.
The Federal government has
no constitutional authority in
these matters.
Butt out feds!
Neighborhood residents stand
your ground. Defend your home
and your neighborhood.
