DOG DAYS OF AUGUST
Paddy and Mick are laying low
trying to stay cool.Their wooley
coats are not made for this heat.
As you savor the waning days
of summer rest up a bit.
September and October will be
very busy. Lots to do.
The inmate work party provided
by Sheriff Apple, did a fine job
resurfacing the footpaths in
Buckingham Pond Park. Much
more remains to be done .
Refer to earlier posts this website.
Primary Day is THURSDAY
September 10, polls open Noon
9 pm.
The county wide race for
County Executive is the main
event. There are contested
primaries in county legislative
districts 8 and 9. as well as
several downtown districts.
No primary in the 10th district
which makes up a large part
of our neighborhood.
I brought and Article 78 Pro Se
in opposition to the Bethany
Family Promise issue at 738
New Scotland Ave.
The "home base" for the
Family Promise homeless
social services program
if left to stand, will adversely
impact the character and
residential integrity of our
neighborhood, in particular
home values, the City
property tax base and support
for city schools/city government
services.
Family Promise has a head-
quarters at 553 Clinton Ave.
That is where the homeless
are and where the regional
"home base" should be
located. No zoning change
required there.
I have purposely not given
publicity to this case, because
it should be decided in Court
on the law - not tried in the
media.
Posts on this website from
January to present will
give you a good idea of
what is at stake on our
neighborhood. Review these.
Court dates are scheduled for
August 28 and September 3.

78.
Stay tuned ,as former Mayor
Jerry was fond of saying.
Looking ahead to November
issues on the table will be:
1. Closely monitoring City
finances, and city plans to
rezone and reassess residential
neighborhoods.
2. City schools , the dismal
graduation rate, efforts to
rescind common core and
defeat of the proposed 200
million dollar Albany High
reconstruction bond act
which will be on the Nov 3
ballot.
3. Speeding traffic on New
Scotland, Krum Kill Rd
Buckingham Drive. South
Manning, Whitehall and
Hackett, Western Avenue
and a number of tributary
residential streets, must be
reigned in.
The Red Traffic Light
camera scam will do nothing
to solve the speeding/reckless
traffic issues on the above
streets and elsewhere in the
City.
The Mayor and/or Common
Council have to step up to
address this problem.
Set the speed limit at 25 mph
on all city residential streets.
Strictly enforce speed limits
and violators who run stop
signs/traffic lights.
That's all for now.
