WHO WILL POLICE THE
SHOP RITE/CDTA PLAN?

Shop Rite and CDTA have entered into
an arrangement that is mutually beneficial
to them, but which may not be of benefit
to pay as you go riders and the neighborhoods
traversed by the various bus routes.

The Shop Rite/CDTA plan is subject to
many abuses. It is one thing to provide
a swiper pass to be used for transportation
to and from work, to be used by legitimate
employees.

However, to permit that pass to be used
for unlimited travel, anywhere, anytime
by anyone possessing it, is not a good
idea.

Will the swiper pass have a photo ID?

Will the bus passes be microstamped
to provide a record of when and how
used?

Will Shop Rite e verify workers to whom
such passes are issued?

Will these employee passes become
community passes, used by others for
unintended purposes?

What about security concerns of
pay as you go riders and neighbors?

Will CDTA be forced to hire bus
marshalls to provide security on
buses?

Will the APD step up security
in hoods along bus routes?

How much is Shop Rite paying CDTA
for this arrangement?

How much will this arrangement cost
the rest of us?

In sum, this Shop Rite/CDTA program
is not a good idea.
